Knipex impressed me so much with their wrench pliers that I tried them as a replacement for a 2 year old IRWIN adjustable pliers which turned out to be quite good. Okay, but they're better in almost every way - I think the IRWINs, with their comfortable two-piece grip and larger adjustment knob, are more comfortable and easier on the eye. But both independent testing and two months of my own use show that they're stronger, thinner and therefore surprisingly better suited to tough work tasks, and the best part is that they're hand finished, including sharpening the teeth, which are then severely hardened. . My IRWIN teeth didn't have as much support and started to wear out immediately. While I find these Knipex Cobras quite ugly, I have fully embraced them and have sized larger and smaller to complement this set. Incidentally, for convenience, all German hand tool manufacturers offer similar pliers with an even more ergonomic grip than IRWIN, but after testing I found that they take away from the "fixed access" advantage. If you need or want the best then this is it. If you can't afford it I would recommend Channellock's.
