I like having this storage on my LAN. I was able to copy my entire media library to it and watch movies while running Kodi on a Raspberry Pi. It made movie night a lot less stressful. The user interface of this system is pretty good and it's easy enough to set up and create shares with access controls. I bought a 12TB Buffalo TeraStation 3410DN Desktop NAS configured with Raid5. I've been waiting for the prices to come down for a while and I wasn't disappointed after a week with the TeraStation. Setup was easy. Plugged it in and powered it on, discovered the NAS with DHCP, then set a static IP and updated the firmware. The firmware took about 20 minutes and I was starting to think it wasn't going to work like one of the reviews said, but it just ended up taking longer than I thought it would.

This unit is a great price and the quality seems great. However, the software is definitely as poorly written as any other SAN device. While I would recommend this device I would like to point out a few things because after contacting support and having a hard time they never responded to me for a simple issue.
