There are pluses and minuses, think before you buy.

Whoever expects landscape sharpness and portrait bokeh from this lens is not your option. In the picture, this lens is the most ordinary - there are not enough stars from the sky, but it gives a stable and predictable result! One word - kit. I bought a BU, as a universal one (14,000 for 2019), for traveling and walking light. I take it either as the main lens, or as an additional one to one of the fixes. As a lens "just in case" or "for all occasions", it is very good - accurate autofocus, the presence of a stabilizer, small dimensions and weight. Focusing speed is average, accuracy is high. Closer to the edges of the frame, chromatic aberrations appear and sharpness decreases, but everything is within reason. Only strong vignetting at wide angles catches the eye. Open apertures are working, the lens on them is not as sharp as on covered ones - it is soft, but not soapy. The stabilizer is just a gift, sometimes it comes in handy even during the day in dark doorways, which is a very significant plus for trips!

Pros
  • + Sharp in the center + Quiet and accurate autofocus + Hong Konganent manual focus priority (M/A) + Image stabilizer + Rubber mount boot + Full compatibility with younger carcasses "without a screwdriver" + Secondary market price
Cons
  • - Average focusing speed - High level of chromatic aberration - Strong venetting - Lack of sharpness around the edges - Thread for a 72mm light filter (neither here nor there, I would like 77mm)

Perhaps these are the features of my copy, but the assembly leaves much to be desired. Still a good option for the money.
