In general, these are good radios. Pairing and setup was pretty easy with no issues. We took the radios out to test them to see how far they could consistently send and receive location data and texts. The radios were attached to backpacks so they could stand about 4 1/2 feet off the ground. We also had a pair of Garmin Rhino 120 1W radios to compare. Motorola T800 and Rhino 120 showed almost the same results in terms of range. Here's what we found for the maximum usable range: Dense forest with hills (Winter) 1/2 mile. My residential area is 1.2 miles. Open Sea (Boat-Boat) 3.2 miles. Under these circumstances. The T800 has a good sound, feels good in the hand, and has a built-in flashlight. The price is not bad considering the features. In general I was satisfied with them.
