The fuel pump is installed as intended. Remember that the included wiring harness needs to be reattached to make it look like the picture. The only wire that is in the correct position is the purple wire. The thicker black wire goes where the smaller black wire goes. The gray wire goes where the big black wire goes, and the small black wire goes where the gray wire goes. I hope this helps someone avoid the problems I had installing this pump. If you already have a spade connector, you shouldn't have any problems.
