New APPLE laptops come with no magnetic connector or backlight. It's sad that they dropped two very important features for many of us, but this product helps with at least one of those missing elements. First, the cord is made qualitatively! (some other aftermarket cables are not). This is important and has not failed. NEXT, a yellow light will illuminate when you connect it to your computer. While it can't use the proprietary software handshake that the old one did to tell you if it's actually FULL or not, it's still valuable. So the green light doesn't always come on when it's full. I don't mind. Best of all, you know at a glance it's on and charging. This is important to some of us who have relied on this guide for various reasons. I finally got my flashlight back and it saved me even when I lost my plug and didn't know it. I love this product.
