Review on 🛥️ Marine Drain Plug - Sierra 18-2244 by Duane Ramos

This is not a suitable replacement for P/N 79953Q04. I bought this for my 86 Mercury inline 6 because the screwdriver slot was worn out. There is a clearance issue behind the vent on these lower units. This screw has an overall length of .467" while the original screw is .360". It was not noticed during assembly, but this difference is enough that the screw head and gasket do not form a seal. I've started it twice with the underblock almost open and luckily I noticed an oil leak as I passed it. It could have ended badly for my engine if I hadn't noticed. Please make sure you don't have clearance issues if you need 79953Q04. Too late for me to go back.
