Where was this all my life?

My first encounter with microwave popcorn was way back when almost no one had a microwave. Yes, I am rather old!My uncle showed us this magic trick of using a brown paper lunch bag and covering it with a plastic bag. Then he poured in a bit of popcorn and a chunk of butter. To our amazement, the most delicious popcorn came out of his magical microwave oven.Years go by and they market those horribly salty, easy-to-burn, and altogether not-so-tasty popcorn in prepackaged microwave popcorn. The world had gone downhill from the humble days of real popcorn made with a paper bag. But hey, society values convenience over taste and health. I get it.So I stuck to the really old-fashioned method of popping popcorn in a super hot kettle. The popcorn is simply to die for. Crispy, hot, and packed with flavor. But once I am done with the popcorn, I am left to deal with the oily mess that is my kettle. That and the smell of burnt oil that is permeating my entire home. But most of all, the wife does not like the smell of burnt oil lingering for days. Then I heard about this magical bowl. It collapses down to the size of a small doggy bowl. It does not use any oil. And, the cleanup is as simple as wiping it down with a damp paper towel and I am done! This won't have the flavor of oil-popped corn, just because there is no oil involved. But there is a lot to be said for the clean flavor of pure corn with a hint of salt. For the convenience, and the peace it brings to my home. Not to mention no lingering burnt oil smell, this is a keper! Highly recommend it for your home.

Pros
  • I love using this thing. My only complaint is I have to butter/oil the popcorn by hand.
Cons
  • Can create a mess if not used carefully
