Review on πŸ’‘ High Efficiency 700W SFX Power Supply - SilverStone SX700-PT with 80 Plus Platinum Certification by Jacob Rasmussen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The instructions are really vague, the cables are a bit confusing, otherwise the device itself is fantastic.

This is my first SFX power supply, a platinum rated power supply thanks to the major power supply shortage of 2020. Surprisingly small, but packs more power than almost any other SFX power supply on the market. It comes with lots of cables and the build quality is fantastic. The cables are a bit shaky because some of the 8-pin connectors aren't actually 8-pin, they are 4+4 connectors forming 8-pin, but that's only because the entire block is modular. Some of them come with additional connectors, like the ATX connector that comes with a 4-pin connector as a cable extension. No one with a 700-watt power supply is going to run a processor that only requires a 4-pin connector, but at least it's possible. Management. Damn, that sucks. This is the vaguest guide I've ever read. I would look at the cables, back to the manual and then back to the cables because the 8 pin PCIe cables are labeled and even color coded while the others are all just black and nothing else. Some of them even have the same pins but are used differently, for example one 8 pin connector is unlabeled for powering your processor while the other is PCIe and is labeled. All in all a great device, amazing build quality, but this guide hurt me. Sarcasm is intentional.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Useless features
