I bought one of these for my son 3.5 years ago and it has withstood a lot of wear and tear, pool wear and many, many visits to the washing machine. The rim is still strong to keep it from falling on his face and provides great protection when I can't always sunscreen his sensitive cheeks and face. I just bought another one for my 1 year old and although it has a loose fit on the chin strap the elastic allows you to adjust it perfectly to his head and it stays on all day. I've also found that my kids' heads don't sweat as much when they run outside as they do with a light baseball cap. I suspect they'll last until my kids outgrow them, but if they don't I'll be buying another one in a second.
