Flo Water Detector. The sensor cable only detects water when the side with the logo is facing down. I would recommend testing it before posting to make sure it works. Installing the Flo Water Detector: This was quite frustrating. I have a mesh network (Eero Pro 6) and despite my best efforts (blocking the network at 2.4GHz, disabling all nodes except the main node, multiple setup attempts) I couldn't get the device to properly connect to my WiFi associate. I would see the device online but the app never completed the setup and kept throwing a connection error. Here's how I fixed it. Please note that your results may vary. I used two smartphones, one of which had a personal hotspot (or an extra phone for a true 2.4Ghz hotspot). In my case, we're using iOS devices, so I took both iPhones out of my Wi-Fi range. I renamed an iPhone to my home's network name. On iOS, Personal Hotspot broadcasts the phone name as the Wi-Fi network name. I then updated the same phone's personal hotspot password to my home WiFi password. I also set the iPhone to maximum compatibility, so it's locked to 2.4GHz. This allows your phone to mimic your home network, which will make sense later. I then took my other iPhone, which automatically connected to the Wi-Fi that the original phone was broadcasting (if it doesn't automatically connect, connect to a Wi-Fi network that simulates home Wi-Fi) . Then use a phone that does not broadcast the Wi-Fi network to pair the Smart Detector. This worked for me, after it finished pairing and showing up in the app I took the battery out and put it back in. When I heard the beep and the blue light went out, I pulled the battery out again and set it aside. I then continued pairing the other detectors. The water detectors save the WiFi name and password after setting. After the setup is complete, reset your iPhone name and personal hotspot password to the previous value. I then drove home and was able to put the batteries back in the detectors once they were within range of my home wifi. Since your portable hotspot mimicked your home credentials during setup, the next time you insert the batteries, they should automatically connect to your home Wi-Fi without any further action. Mine did and works fine. I've tried unplugging the batteries again to see if they find any leaks etc and they are connected and working with no issues. Features/Use: Devices will detect water within seconds if you have Flo by Moen Smart. Water barriers shut off the water quickly. Notifications worked as expected, I was really impressed. My backstory: I live in a smart home with mostly iOS devices and use HomeKit natively and Homebridge for everything else. We have smart ovens, robot vacuums, robot mops, smart locks, MyQ garage doors, lights/switches (Lutron, Hue, Smart Home Genius), TVs, sprinklers, curtains, locks, etc. Most of them are relatively easy to use. at more complex ones that require some work with networking stuff.
