Great little needles

I have tried many different quilting needles and I keep coming back to these. Roxannes are great, especially when you get 50 a pack, and while I own and love many Clover products, I'm not crazy about their needles. They are harder to fill. Unlike the gaps mentioned above, the eyes of the tulips don't protrude on the sides to make them appear larger for easier threading. That means when you push it through the fabric it goes smoothly and the eye doesn't loop and slow you down. I have rheumatoid arthritis. Every time I have to twitch to insert a needle, it puts more strain on my hands and fingers, which means I get sick sooner. Also, I think they are smoother and easier to cut. It looks intimidating because the eyelet is so small, but depending on the yarn, I often don't use a needle threader. When I do this I use the Clover Hummingbird which works well and is small enough to fit in the eye. Also, pointing the needle at the thread instead of threading it through helps to make the process easier. I use Gutermann, Aurafil and Sulky regularly and have had no problems. However, if it is a three-layer thread, then a needle threader will help. I have never broken or bent any of these needles. I can't help but try new needles, but like I said, I keep coming back to these. They're expensive, but they're worth it. And the last tip: I will put these tulips on my wish list and keep an eye on the price. Last time I bought them they were two dollars off the regular price.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
