Review on DIRECTV RC73 IR Remote Control by Mark Adlesh

Great price and I can't tell this remote apart from the original remote that came with the DirectTV receiver. I had four working RC73 remotes that I used to watch TV in four different rooms. The most commonly used was slowly going crazy, some number keys had to be pressed multiple times to enter a new channel selection. I looked on Revain and also on Ebay and found these at a very good price. I was a little hesitant to order from an eBay seller just in case they were actually used or refurbished, so I ordered through Revain Prime - with free basic shipping - from a Vista seller for $6.25. The remote looked brand new, including batteries (cheap), room stickers and card programming instructions, just like the remotes you get from Direct TV for a lot more $$$. I may not be aware of the programming options but in order to program this new remote I had to use an existing working remote to follow the on screen programming instructions to pair this new remote to my Direct TV receiver. If your current remote has completely failed and you don't have another working remote, I don't think you can program a new remote? But as long as you have an up-to-date remote with basic functions still working (not digital), you can use that old remote to program a new one. After scrolling through the on-screen instructions using the current old remote, you will come to a step that requires pressing two buttons simultaneously on the new remote - note that one of the two buttons is "Enter", i.e. the bottom button on the right. of "0" is not a "Select" button. Once I did that, the new remote "docked" to my receiver. With the new remote it took a few more steps to turn the new remote on and off and turn up the volume with the TV. I only received it yesterday, so I cannot guarantee long-term use. but my first impression is very good for the price.
