Review on ๐Ÿถ Extreme Dog Fence Max Grade: Unbeatable Performance with Max Duty Heavy Gauge Wire and 60 Mil Thick Polyethylene Jacket by Michelle Godinez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The surge protector is essentially useless, as intended.

Two stars for ease of installation; It's not the system's fault, it's just the nature of running the wire around an acre of wooded land. As a plus, I believe there is over 1,000 feet of wire on the spool. Five stars for "thickness" because the 14-gauge wire survived being pulled/pushed through thick scaffolding (tested for broken wire with multimeter and test run). Two stars for "value for money" due to the fact that they BECAME CHEAP on NETWORK PROTECTION CONNECTIONS. It seems to be a recurring theme in the reviews. They used spring loaded plastic terminals which (IMO) are not rated to work with 14 gauge wire. The control panel uses SCREW TERMINALS which WORK WELL. If we pay extra for a "maximum rating", they can at least guarantee that the "maximum rating" applies to all components involved. I finished installing the system and temporarily connecting the connectors (the panel isn't wall mounted) to make sure everything was working properly (it did). Then I noticed that the connections to the line filter were weak and any movement of the wires caused them to lose the metal-to-metal connection and the plastic clip to become deformed. The following weekend after I mounted the control panel to the wall I couldn't get the clamps to hold the wires in place and I kept getting an "error beep" beep. Troubleshooting by removing the surge protector solved the problem. I'm sure if I contact the company they will offer to send me a new SP, but if it's not a new and improved version then what's the point? So I've now spent nearly $500 (not to mention two weekends of my time) on a bright yellow wire laboriously stretched across the floor. I can add a ground wire from the control panel to provide some protection but I didn't pay for that. It's all very frustrating. Just buy a shock collar and train your dog with it and you will lose less money.
