Slow focus on Z7 - Camera and photo

Tried Sony 200-600mm lens with Nikonz Z7. The focusing speed is slow compared to the a6600 body. Sometimes the screen darkens when focusing. This improves when the machine is cycled off and on again. The software updater I downloaded from the Techart site didn't work either.
