UPDATE 180626: I was sent a replacement unit (with expedited shipping) which arrived shortly thereafter and has been working great with constant use ever since! The first time I used the second compartment, the device started to smoke: since then I have never been able to read a disc there again. The front bay worked for a couple of uses, but now (data transfer between 27" iMacs) it doesn't even recognize ANY Doctor. I've been in that bay too. I ended up using a SATA to USB cable to do the job Worst $40 I've ever spent on tech Pending review of change after helpdesk and support have responded.
