The tension mechanism confuses me but my 8 year old loves it. I always think they're broken but she seems to be able to fix them, I mean they're not broken and she's just showing me how it works. I didn't really know that was what I was buying, I thought it was just a decoration. I didn't know it's a dial that tightens your shoes. To be honest I probably wouldn't order them if I knew but like I said my daughter thinks they're the coolest thing in the world so I got points I don't know about.
