Review on TransDeco TD32BA Speaker Stands 32 Inch by Nathan Unruh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great stand when set up correctly. Here's what you need to do.

This is one of the few tall stands I've been able to find from Revain that will fit a small pair of Cambridge Audio speakers. Raising small speakers so that the tweeter is at ear level requires a taller stand. Other reviews for Transdeco coasters were positive so a kit was ordered. The stand is fairly easy to assemble, but as other reviewers have pointed out, it takes a little help to get it really solid. Remember that vibration is the enemy of audio equipment, so everything needs to be solid to deliver the best possible sound. The main requirement for the product is the attachment of the center column to the glass base. Because the hole in the base is too big, the screw that goes through from below and attaches to the B-pillar doesn't have lateral support, so the assembly isn't completely secure. Thanks to another reviewer who recommended installing 5/16 medium 3/4" washers in the hole to provide the missing support. I immediately ordered a pack of 100 with the frames and used up more than half of them when setting up - see photos. The washers fitted perfectly and provided the missing support. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KFS11QD). You should also use shims under the top plate to ensure a tight fit. I also plan to add a couple of rubber washers at the top and bottom of each washer stack to prevent any potential rattling. Poorly. I chose children's play sand as a filler to massage it. Instead of just pouring sand into the post, I used a pair of my wife's old winter tights (thicker than nylon) to keep the sand from spilling out. Just insert them into the post and fill them up at the top. Sand with a funnel and tie the top with a pair of zip ties. I used about 15 pounds of sand per post total. This worked very well and completely drowned out the ringing. The 4 pads that came with each top speaker placement plate are totally unsuitable for this purpose in my opinion so they have been dropped and replaced with a set of Hudson Hifi 1" silicone isolation points which offer far better isolation and of course are non-slip hold the speakers much safer sound improves greatly under my Cambridge Audio speakers - HIGHLY recommended and also inexpensive (set of 16 at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0857161Q1) The spikes fit you well though have to use a 10m spanner to tighten the lock nuts to keep them from wobbling, take your time straightening them out - it can take a while but the included leg covers were immediately discarded as covering the spikes .They have little to no insulating properties.I have a set of spike cups (amazon.com/gp/product/B07KVWPWX5) along with added to the rest of the g Hudson Dots glued to their base. to further insulate the stand and prevent the spikes from sliding across my tile floor. After all this, the stand became rock solid and vibration resistant. The sound of my system has improved beyond recognition with amazingly clear bass and beautiful pictures. The job is done. So these stands are worth their money. The glass base and glossy black painted metal look great. Most importantly, they work really well and provide a super strong base when modded appropriately. Highly recommended.
