My Surface Book battery swelled which damaged my Surface Book and Microsoft replaced it. Oddly enough, my original power supply didn't work when plugged in both ways, it only worked when the cable was coming towards me, so I was no longer able to connect an external monitor with the power supply connected. But it wouldn't work if hooked up any other way (weird I know). So I bought it as a replacement and it works when plugged in both ways (like my original Surface Book). It also delivers more power (in amps) than my original power supply (but the same amps as my new 2nd/backup power supply I bought from Microsoft). Maybe it's an issue with the amp, but either way this power supply works great and is an inexpensive replacement for my old power supply.
