I bought these for a 9ft umbrella because the battery powered light I tried was too dim to illuminate the table under the umbrella. They're bright enough to light up the table at dinner, but not too bright to be a nuisance at night. They are warm white in color, the perfect color for the evening. If using zip ties, start at the very top center of the umbrella (underneath the umbrella of course) and then work your way down each of the 8 ribs, then back along the rib and repeat the process across the entire umbrella, each of the 8 ribs has two rows of lights. Then just run a thin transparent cable along the umbrella stand (there is no light on that part of the cable) and plug it into a socket and you have the perfect evening light. I don't use or care for flashing settings as the goal for my purposes is to glow under an umbrella at night for dinner.
