Inexpensive replacement part
It was this little piece of metal that broke on my 15 year old mountain bike after I pushed it too hard over rough terrain. This saved me from getting a much more expensive rear derailleur or a new bike. I was able to easily make repairs and didn't have to carry it to the store.
