Review on KeySmart Pro Bluetooth: Revolutionizing Your Key Organization with Compact Technology by Jaleel Pruitt

I really, really want this product though.

. I have some concerns. Below are my thoughts after a week of use. First, let me say that I owned both the Tile and KeySmart before they were merged into this Keysmart Pro branded product. I liked both products and bought this one as soon as I saw it, even at the less than attractive price of $60. It's slightly larger than the original, but that's to be expected as the tile has to be placed inside. I think the swap is worth it. However, I sincerely hope that the added new feature - a flashlight - did not add to the increase. While not a bad addition, it has limited uses and feels like an afterthought. Everyone who uses this product has their phone (since that's how you find Tile products) which has a much more powerful flashlight. The product comes with everything you need. Gaskets, USB charger and key loop/bottle opener. It wasn't fully charged. So if you buy this product, be sure to do so. However, it's a small luxury and I don't mind. What I would object to is the choice of materials. Let me be clear: whatever plastic the design team chose, it's soft and has the strength of a wet paper towel. The original KeySmart was an all-metal construction and held up very well. While I understand the need to house Tile components likely necessitated a switch to a plastic case, there are much better options that are far more durable. After only one week of use, there are already several strong signs of wear on the case. The spacers, which used to be metal as well, are now made of a thin material that I can't identify. Stronger than cardboard but less than metal. The screws securing each side of the case mate well with the posts built into the opposite side of the original KeySmart. Those screws now protrude through the case, which really reduces the minimalist feel that the original KeySmart achieved so much. Overall, despite the premium price point, all of the components feel very cheap, and the flashlight is a step above useless. I am very disappointed in this regard because I really like the idea of this product. I can only hope that future versions will return to the design phase. As much as it pains me to say this, at this price point, this product just isn't worth it. Edit: I noticed that many of the positive/5 star reviews are not verified buyers. Make it what you want.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • May damage
