If your sleeping style is like mine, this is perfect!; sleeps on the back, narrow. Sleep on your side, thicker so your shoulders don't twist. I have woken up with shoulder pain for a while from sleeping on my side for too long, this pillow was the perfect solution. When I sleep on my back, my neck naturally finds the flat part with ease. When I sleep on my side, the protrusion adjusts slightly for the weight and I can feel my shoulders relax and not try to support my head. Smell and good size, felt pretty soft. In the end I'm glad I bought this, I really like this design for my type of sleep
