I bought this CPU for a new rack file server. I was looking for something powerful enough for Plex transcoding, but something that could be easily cooled in a case with limited airflow. My server has 8 hard drives in a hot-swappable array, which puts out a decent amount of heat. I connected this processor to a Noctua NH-L9i low-profile cooler, which keeps the processor at 40-55°C during normal operation. This processor was basically plug and play, required no further configuration and has been running 24/7 on my server since installation.
