I bought this as a preventive measure to help the local church better secure the new computer. This was my first time buying and installing such an item and to my surprise the installation wasn't that difficult. I don't think the sticky pad is meant to stay securely in place as a permanent security device or anti-theft solution. However, it really helped me stay in place while installing the screws in a tight and dark place (under the desk in the back drawer - a very tight and dark place). I suggest using steel bolts (with locknuts and washers) instead of screws to attach it to a wooden table - for those of you who certainly know your way around home. I also suggest that those using this practice with a set of locks and keys, BEFORE actually installing it on the device you intend to secure, fully understand that the lock is really there and not just *appearing locked *. . So you can be sure that it is really well protected and that it is not so easy to damage it by accident or innocent movement. Remember to keep your keys in a safe place and not in the nearest desk drawer (don't make them easy to find). There may be some installation videos available on YouTube which can also guide you through the installation process.
