This works fine as long as your graphics card (integrated or not) can handle three monitors. I wish I had 3 4K monitors to test this, but I only have three 1080 HD monitors. Got it for my gaming laptop to connect to and use as a desktop when working from home. . It easily handles three monitors. Windows cannot handle three monitors PLUS with one laptop screen, so you will need to adjust the display settings in Windows to use three monitors, which will turn off the laptop screen if you use it in this way. I also recommend adjusting the settings to allow you to shut down your laptop (and still run it), which is done in the advanced power settings. To cool things down you can also put it on a decent cooling pad if you're thinking of running three monitors on your laptop, as your laptop's graphics card will be working a little harder, as will this little device. Note that there are systems where this just won't work. For example, I have an old desktop computer that I built a few years ago that is equipped with a 6-core AMD processor with a GTX 570 series graphics card. In theory, the specs are high enough that the system can run three HD monitors can run without any problems. I've tried many different cables and many different jokes with DP to HDMI adapters and such, but I could never get all three monitors to work. I could always bring two to work. All monitors have DP and HDMI inputs, so that's not a problem. After much research I found out that the problem was with my Nvidia graphics card. On older models, there is a hardware limitation of the graphics card itself, which limits the number of monitors to just two. There is a workaround where you add another Nvidia graphics card to your system to get all three to work (it could even be a very low-end Nvidia graphics card). But then that defeats the purpose of this device, which allows you to run three monitors from one port. Therefore, I can recommend this device with one caveat: you need to make sure that your computer's graphics can work with three monitors. The description mentions that it only works with Windows machines, which might not be entirely correct as it should also work with a Linux build with a decent graphics card and processor. It's really just something that doesn't work with Apple products in their current state. Another little thing worth noting is that it heats up during use. It's not super hot, but it's getting very warm. Another reason to pair this with a laptop cooling pad. With this adapter, you don't even need a lot of technical skills if you have a decent system and understand that it doesn't work with every system. If that doesn't work for you, then this is a good troubleshooting exercise for you or your tech-savvy friend. My next test will be if I can get it to work on my 2019 Surface Pro 7. Results. There are some other features that are good in this device as well. There is a port on the back that you can use with a charger. This allows you to power your laptop from the main USB-C port, so you only need one USB-C port. It also has some magnets that allow you to attach it to a metal case, but it's not a super-strong magnet, so using it with the weight of three cables is a little risky - in other words, it sticks but also falls easily falls off if you move the cords too much. It's not a big deal, but just worth mentioning. You can fix this by adding a small neodymium magnet on the back, which gives a bit more power to the weaker magnets that come with it. I haven't used tech support, but I've heard from colleagues that Cable-Matters supports their products fairly well over unnamed ones. The last thing worth mentioning is that you can get a 2 year guarantee if you sign up with them, otherwise it's the usual 1 year. All in all, this is a very good adapter at the current price of $65 that gives you three monitors. without much hassle if you read the description well.
