Review on FORD M6316M50 Damper Kit: Improving Engine Performance by Wayne Drakh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Ford Racing is not always about quality.

Well I think Revain should do a little research on the quality of the products they sell before they put them up for sale. I'm not saying this is Revane's fault alone, but it also makes Revane look bad. Well I thought I would keep it in stock but what a mistake. This particular item turned out to be defective right after unpacking. The rubber on the inertia ring was compressed too much, which could eventually lead to damper failure and, in turn, catastrophic under-hood carnage. The time display was missing. This method of manufacturing dampers by cold pressing is unacceptable even in everyday use. I had to run to the local dealership and buy a different make of car to get the truck back on the road this morning. I got a Powerbond which is much better made for a stock shock and the price was lower. The ring is bonded to the hub with heat and pressure. This in turn eliminates slippage and failure of the shock absorber which can fall apart. I own a lot of Fords, old and new, but lately the quality of parts in this country just sucks, to say the least. This was an inconvenience for me and a waste of time for my business. Just because a product says Ford Racing doesn't mean it's a quality product. Do your homework first.
