POWERFUL BUT LOUD good for blender

Replacement for a 50 year old Oster that has completely burned out. This model is everything I need - on-off, no need for 30 functions on a food-to-liquid tool. like - the base can be removed for cleaning. The blades and seal are interchangeable, the base and blades fit narrow neck pitchers. Aversion - the shape of a beehive on four legs. It would be easier on the eye if the base was flush with the counter OR the old style square base, but that's just aesthetics. A slight dislike for height also makes it a little unstable when near the edge of the counter. The main complaint is that it's quite noisy. It's coming from someone who pokes fun at reviews of appliances (and usually turns out to be right) - fridges, dishwashers, ice makers, etc. In my experience, those reviews are pretty whiny. it's really loud. the son responsible for preparing the smoothie actually wears hearing protection. this is partly due to the powerful engine, but I have to wonder if the basic design affects the noise level. Maybe a bit of noise reduction technology is in order? otherwise a good tool for grinding food into a liquid form. At least don't run the blender for more than a few minutes, that's okay (or use hearing protection). Let's see if it lasts at least 5 years and the century of a one-time TOTAL in our days.
