The composition is not disclosed by the company, so it is difficult to judge whether this product is worth the money. For this reason I can only give 3 stars. I would give 3.5 for possible. Effectively increases gH, kH and pH. There are many similar products that do the same thing and let you know what you're adding to your water. This one is cheaper than most of them. Directions: 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. (Dissolve it in a fish-safe container with your tank water, then pour into your aquarium.) On average, a tablespoon of salt is about 17 grams, this 8-ounce container makes about 135 tablespoons for about 670 gallons. For a 55 gallon tank, that's about 12 tanks full of water. My tap water comes out with a hardness of about 7.4 and a hardness of about 10. I use a 5 gallon teaspoon and get a hardness of around 20 and a pH of around 7.8. Perfect for my peacocks. I did not notice any instability or fluctuations in these parameters. For dramatic change, I suggest crushed coral to act as a permanent buffer and source of water-enriching minerals. It's cheap, of course, and the changes are gradual so as not to shock the fish. I didn't want to be boring but I couldn't find much information about this product so I thought this might help someone. :)Happy fish farm
