Second floor laundry room essential

For those of us who have a second floor laundry room, this is a must have. I dare say that in my experience this is a must have in any laundry. It was a key item for us when we remodeled our upstairs laundry room. In the previous configuration, there was no floor drain and the room was above the garage. I was always worried and nervous about a leak because if I wasn't home it would be unstoppable. During the renovation we installed a floor drain and added this fitting. Since I wasn't getting enough sleep (see floor drain note) when I reconnected the washer and dryer (we have a steam dryer that requires a water inlet through Y when cooling), I forgot to check the little gum. washer into the hose before turning on the supply. When it started to splash it hit the sensor almost immediately and I had less than 1/4 cup of water on the floor. Easily wipeable with a towel. I wasn't expecting to "test" them before the crash, but I was impressed with how well they worked. If you have a steam dryer, an additional sensor is a good idea, although not essential. You can place a single activated sensor between your devices, but remember that the longer the water takes to reach the sensor, the longer it will take for the supply to shut off. Overall I am delighted with this product. and recommended it to everyone I spoke to about it.
