Very comfortable readers to carry around home

I've reached an age where I need help to see things up close - even on my computer screen it's a little difficult at this stage to concentrate . I have been using reading glasses to help with my cell phone, iPad, computer, books, etc. for several years. I had never seen progressive power readers before and was glad I was offered the opportunity to try them out. Overall it's a great value when you know how much power they require. I usually use 1.5 to 2 and the test pair is 1.0. After wearing them for a while my eyes got used to them and I can see my computer screen and phone perfectly. They're easy to put on and don't take off every time I'm away from the computer. If you've never worn bifocals, you'll understand that the bottom looks too close, so be careful when going up or down. Screen, like me, you have to tilt your head back a bit to get the magnification. This is really the only problem I've had and it applies to any bi- or trifocal lens - over time it can take a toll on your neck and shoulders. But the higher magnification in the lower third works really well to see my iPhone's screen. The design is pretty basic, so I doubt anyone will mind too much. The frames are really light and don't feel flimsy, but they don't feel like the strongest pair I've had before. The loops stretch a bit which is nice and I have a wide head so I can hear them tightening a bit when I put them on. I think I'll get at least a good year out of them. The nose is built into the frame, so there are no weak points. Overall a great price compared to what it would cost to get a similar item at an eyewear store.

Pros
  • Acetate frame
Cons
  • Out of fashion
