Review on 🔌 Sabrent HDMI Extension Cable over Cat5/6 RJ45 Extender Adapter (Up to 200-Feet) with Power Adapter - HDMI-EXTC by Scott Rodriguez

Works better than expected!

I bought a Sabrent HDMI extender to extend the HDTV signal from my DirecTV HD DVR in my home gym to an additional 32" Sony Bravia HDTV in my break room. I'm an avid sports fan and wanted to watch two games at once or watch TV in the break room while the kids played XBOX 360. Since the home gym TV was connected via composite cable, the HD DVR output HDMI output was available to feed the HD in the break room without purchasing another HD receiver (the home gym TV and the break room TV are almost never watched at the same time). The only problem was that the cable ran from the home gym DVR to the wall The room was about 75 feet. I did a little research and found that HDMI cables are unreliable at around 30 feet. I found the Sabrent HDMI Extender at Revain and thought it was the perfect solution for me as I already had several hundred feet. CAT5e cable. The HDMI extender is very small, but well built in a metal housing. After making all the HDMI and Cat5e connections to the transmitter and receiver, I was happy to see that the secondary break room's HDTV seemed to have 720p and 1080i pictures that were as clear as the 55-inch Samsung HDTV in break room (I haven't tried original 1080p content yet). Surprisingly, I didn't even need to power the HDMI extender for it to work, but I imagine longer cables might need power. I've been using it quite extensively over the past couple of weekends and haven't had any issues. If you are in a similar situation as me, this is a great solution for you. Buy Sabrent's HDMI extenders and you'll get there. I do not regret it.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Expensive

You don't have to use the power adapter! (if your ethernet run is short enough)
