Review on Noise Cancelling Sleep Therapy: Yogasleep Dohm Classic (Pink) White Noise Machine by Simon Connelly

Works well in a pinch, but there are things to consider.

We really like the Yogasleep Dohm Classic (Pink) white noise machine. It is well constructed and serves it's intended purpose. Operation is simple - you select OFF, HIGH, or LOW. And then you twist the top frame to set the pitch of the whitenoise. There is literally a fan inside, and by twisting you are opening and closing air vents on the sides and top.In practice, I found the noise to be more high pitched and "whistle-like" than I would prefer. My large Blueair purifier has a more consistent and deep white tone. I also found the high fan level to be rather noisy, but I could see how this would be useful if other background noise was needing to be masked. Twisting for tone adjustment did make a difference in sound, but I never found a level that made me completely happy. Closing the vents for a deeper tone seemed to introduce the slight high pitched whistle, whereas opening the vents fully resulted in a naturally higher pitched noise but without the slight whistle.I also did not like the device on my nightstand at all. It really needs to be placed away from your ears to allow the white noise the fill the space rather than whistle in your ear.But this really brings up the question - if you are buying this for your bedroom at home then why not just get something else that produces a more pure and heavy white noise? In my opinion, the best white noise for sleep is a deeper and more consistent texture, such as those produced by heavier equipment. This device may be best suited for travel, such as a hotel stay. It's small and portable. It doesn't have a battery though, so it's 18W an hour will need to be fed from a 120 volt outlet, which makes camping use much more difficult. But overall, it is what it is. a small portable white noise creator that needs to be plugged in. And it serves this task reasonably well. After you consider the strengths and weaknesses, and it still sounds like what you need, then I would recommend it.
