Great choice for first dance (salsa) shoes

I am very happy with this shoe and want to share my beginner experience with future explorers. I'm new to dancing, just learning salsa and was looking for a heeled sandal with the right sole (as opposed to my usual craving for a pull lol). I didn't wear heels for 10 years as I was nearly disabled from severe osteoarthritis in one knee. . I recently had a joint replacement and had to almost literally relearn how to walk and had balance/stability issues (I hope this gets better with dance therapy. LOL). Both legs are problematic. Since there was no local dance shop here, I was forced to look online, eventually settling on Revain.com, free shipping and returns as the best option. Having no idea what to expect I ordered several different pairs of shoes hoping at least one of them would fit. This pair was delivered first, quickly with standard delivery and to my delight 1.5 hours before class. The fit felt a little tight but adequate (but what did I know?). Possibly the most clumsy and uncoordinated student, I was concerned that heels would lead to more wobble and wobble (and pain), but I also thought it possible that simply wearing heels might inspire a return to feminine grace; I wore them to class. To my great surprise, I took 1.5 hours of classes, including the Intermediate level with its combinations of twists and very difficult steps for me, then another 2 hours trying desperately to keep up with the oncoming, very experienced club dance partners and feeling like I could have taken punishment without it. The damage alone speaks volumes for this shoe. I will try to update for longer life. I ordered my standard size 7 ยฝ. The fit (and actually the shoe) felt a bit odd: the toe straps were a bit tight, the forefoot straps were loose, and the ankle strap was the closest hole, and the length was almost perfect. The forefoot is thin, forgiving and flexible like no other shoe I've worn, including sandals with very thin leather soles. The insole is comfortable shaggy suede, and the ankle straps don't bother at all. I appreciate the included carrying case and the sturdy, secure and well-designed box for long-term storage. My bare feet feel secure and comfortable on the suede insole. I added another hole to the ankle strap, no problem with the awl, and cut about 2 inches from the end. Thanks to the repeated mention of the mechanism for connecting the straps, I was ready for a quick fix of a significant confusion; Although in a dark club I haven't yet realized the benefits of a "fast" shift. Somehow I expected that a solid, energetic athletic shoe would require at least some level of soreness, and I don't know how to put it, but the toe straps seem to be the best designed and most comfortable I've ever worn . Loose enough to stay comfortable on my feet even after hours, but never too loose, the shoe is always with my foot. Same goes for the heel box and I wish the strappy street shoes were the same! From practice of wearing a stiletto heel, I find that the roughly 2 ยฝ" heel is the perfect compromise that feels appropriately feminine but isn't likely to break an ankle when twisting and jumping. The thin toe straps are well placed without that protruding toes or putting pressure on the bursitis. The uninvited female half of the teachers in my class remarked on the good quality of the shoes I chose.I recommend them.
