Good but not as sharp as Tokina 12-24 at the wide end

Pretty nice lens. It's built like a tank and feels premium. The autofocus motor isn't as quiet as claimed and sometimes makes an odd clicking noise. The Tokina 12-24 is a much quieter and smoother lens. Image quality is good at the wide end (12mm), but not as sharp around the edges as the Tokina 12-24. At the other end of the range (28mm) image quality is sharper across the frame and seems slightly better than the 12-24 at 24mm. The AR coatings on this lens are better than the Tokina 12-24, with significantly less flare when there's a bright light source in the frame. My complaint about this lens and the reason I'm returning it (twice) is that it doesn't autofocus properly with my Canon T2i. It only focuses properly 20% of the time; the rest of the time a little but noticeable. (Manual focus in Live View gives a sharp image.) Other lenses I've tried reliably with my camera's autofocus: Canon 18-55 lens, Canon 55-250mm, Tokina 12-24mm and Canon 10. - 22mm But not Tokina 12-28. I can't figure out what's causing this, but I've tested it extensively and can't reliably set the autofocus. I sent the first one back and got a replacement, the second one does the same. You might have better luck with the camera. I hope so, otherwise it's a good lens.
