Lens quality is good for lenses

I am an amateur photographer and I have all Canon gear. I was looking for a lens with a larger range and maybe a small zoom. I read an article in Popular Photography about this Tonkina 12-28 and the review was pretty good. I tried it and am very happy with the lens. To my surprise it came in a tulip shade which is a lovely shade.

  • Cool

Five stars Tokina!

Hard as a tank! Very sharp, excellent color contrast. My second Tokina lens and I wouldn't trade it for any other. I hope to get a new Tokina 28-70, F2.8 in the future. I have used Tokina 12-24, F4 on 3 trips in Europe. I've taken over 10,000 photos with this lens. Amazing detail captured by the lens even in low light conditions.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Recommended for photo and photography

Very satisfied, great shots and good (very useful) zoom range. Feels good, looks good, constant aperture (F4 is fast enough these days) A very welcome addition to my lens collection: Canon 24-70 L F2.8, Canon 70-200 L F4, Canon 50 F1.4, Canon 100 F2 I'm not the type to take detailed test shots at every f-stop/focal length etc, but I'm critical of the results and like what I've seen.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Good but not as sharp as Tokina 12-24 at the wide end

Pretty nice lens. It's built like a tank and feels premium. The autofocus motor isn't as quiet as claimed and sometimes makes an odd clicking noise. The Tokina 12-24 is a much quieter and smoother lens. Image quality is good at the wide end (12mm), but not as sharp around the edges as the Tokina 12-24. At the other end of the range (28mm) image quality is sharper across the frame and seems slightly better than the 12-24 at 24mm. The AR coatings on this lens are better than the Tokina 12-24…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

but when I saw this lens on sale at a very good price I bought a

I already have a Canon 10-18mm but when I saw this lens on sale at a very good price I bought it. Tokina is well known for its low cost and extremely wide range of lenses. Quality of workmanship As usual, Tokina does not skimp on the construction. The good thing about it is true tactile manual focus with hard stops at the ends. The autofocus is fast enough in different lighting conditions. Distortion and aberrations are pleasingly minimal and on par with other good qualities in this category…

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
