Review on 🏠 Effortlessly Control Your Home Devices with the Swidget Wi-Fi Power Control Insert by Jared Aguilar

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ease of installation. Easy to set up. Worked great.

If reading this review it is not clear that this is an insert, you will need to purchase separately the socket you insert it into. "Insert" extends the functionality of the socket as needed for the desired use case. Therefore, I will mainly comment on the use here and give a separate rating for the socket. This insert allows the Swidget app to control the lower Swidget socket over your Wi-Fi network. Both sockets also have a power control. The insert appears to be of good quality. At first I had my doubts because there's nothing special about it, but then I realized that the insert is sized to take advantage of all the different current and future features that inserts have to offer, so some of them will include more . and like this one, some won't. The insert was quickly and easily inserted into the Swidget socket. Once it clicked into place, it turned on immediately. The effort really only worked. No problem. And that's exactly what you want. However, I'll provide more details in case it's helpful to those unfamiliar with how it works. The socket, sold separately, comes with the plug installed. There are two latches, one on each side of the front of the insert, which must be squeezed to unlock the insert and then pull it out of the socket. Workpiece slides out, then slide insert in until it clicks into place. You shouldn't press too hard. If it doesn't snap into place, make sure the area on the back where the pins go is up. At least in this application, the front button is also up. Once the insert is installed and power is supplied to the outlet, the insert will turn on. Once the insert is installed, open the Swidget app and click the "+" button or the "Add Devices" button. The app tells you exactly what to do. That worked great for me. All I did was what he told me. It will tell you how to make sure the insert is ready to be paired with the app. It's very easy. I installed two outlets and Wi-Fi control inserts, so I used my Android phone for one and my iPad for the other. Both worked great and had the same process. I noticed that the Swidget app had surprisingly few (zero) ratings. I was concerned that I might have chosen the wrong one and didn't want to be scammed, but this was the right one from Swidget Corp. After everything worked through the app, I installed the Swidget skill through my Revain Alexa app. . After I entered my Swidget account credentials (which was created when I first started using the Swidget mobile app), Alexa found my outlets and I was able to turn them on and off with voice commands, use them in procedures, etc. None Problem. Also use Smartthings. I should note that these Wi-Fi control inserts cannot be natively controlled by Smartthings, at least as of the date of this review (September 28, 2021). If you need integrated control now, consider buying Z-Wave or Zigbee inserts. This is a premium price product. It's high quality and incredibly flexible. It's not the cheapest route to a controlled WiFi outlet. If price isn't an issue then I can't think of a reason not to put Swidget sockets everywhere to protect your space in the future. Bets offer many options and they, at least this one, just work. FYI, I purchased this product through their original Kickstarter campaign. An important note on the subject. Sometime after fulfilling the first Kickstarter orders, they released a new and improved version of the product and updated their mobile app. I couldn't connect my Kickstarter earbuds to the latest mobile app. When I contacted Swidget support, they responded immediately and sent me new inserts that perfectly matched the app. GREAT SUPPORT! You don't have this problem when you buy new inserts.
