I purchased this system a month ago and installed it myself in under four hours. I think that for the price point it is a wonderful option and I'm very happy with it. I was very impressed by the finished result and so far I highly recommend it. However, it was really hard to figure out how to install it and what I needed exactly to do so. The company does little in guiding you through what you need. I'd love if this product came as a complete kit ready to install. Keep reading down and you'll see what I had to purchase in order to get it to work. The Pros:-Easy to install (once you know what you need, see below)-Light hues are bright and jewel-toned and simply spectacular-Light pattern options (fading, strobing, etc) are a lot of fun and work elegantlyThe Cons:-The white light is not warm at all, it mimics daylight and looks too white (greyish) in the dark (orange light mimics a warm light tone and can be used instead)-The connectors are great but they offer little protection from the elements (see below for my workaround)-You have to get really close to each individual light to use the remote controlsWhat I used to install the system:-Transformer - Don't be afraid of this part. I was and it was super easy. It plugs into your outdoor electrical outlet after the wire is in it. Took less than a minute to set this up. I purchase a 200 watt low voltage landscape light transformer from my local hardware store and it cost about $50 USD. Even though the system only uses 100 watts, you need to compensate for the electricity that remains in the wire at all times (this can add up to 50 extra watts. A 200 watt transformer was recommended by a professional to ensure that I don't oversaturate the system and that it doesn't burn it down. You never want the wattage to be tight.-Connectors - Pros recommend to forgo the included connectors in favor of stripping the wires and using a high grade underground waterproof connector such as PetsTEKÂ Waterproof Wire Splice Kit for Wire Break Repair in Electric In-Ground Dog Fence Systems. These are watertight and have the wire rest in a waterproof gel. I knew that this would overwhelm my DYI skills, and I'm lazy, so instead I purchased the Restmo Mini IP44 Waterproof Outdoor Connection Boxes with Lockable Latches and Mounting Holes. I used the connectors that came with the system and I just put them inside the waterproof connection box and buried them. This will keep them dry and safe for a long time. I highly recommend that you waterproof the connections, because my old system (different brand, same connectors) died after only two years because it wasn't waterproof enough and I just used with the manufacturer's connectors.-Wire - I purchased the Wirefy 14/2 Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Wire - 14-Gauge 2-Conductor 100 Feet. My lights are along a 35-foot area, but I used all 100 feet of the wire. Remember that you have to account for burying the wire and all the bends and curves you'll need to place the lights efficiently and make your property look stellar. I highly recommend that you don't just buy the 16-gauge basic wire (wire gets thicker as the gauge numbers go down). This will give you a more robust wire that will last you longer. Don't go cheap on this, remember that the wire is what connects the whole system, and you don't want a flimsy wire. If you need more length, buy a longer one or connect two wires using an underground waterproof electrical high grade connector such as PetsTEKÂ Waterproof Wire Splice Kit for Wire Break Repair in Electric In-Ground Dog Fence Systems.-Wire Stripper - I purchased DOWELL 10-22 AWG Wire Stripper Cutter Wire Stripping Tool And Multi-Function Hand Tool. Efficient and well priced. I only had to used it to strip the wire in order for it to go into the transformer.-How To - I learned how to install the system by looking at DYI videos online. There are plenty of resources and tips on how and where to bury the wires, make connections and choose where to place the lights. You can do this!
