Review on πŸ”Š Enhance Audio Quality with Amazon Basics 14-Gauge Speaker Wire Cable – 100 Feet of 99.9% Oxygen-Free Copper by Daryl Barton

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Wow. Why is THAT bad?

Such a funny story - I bought these to wall install 5.1 surround sound speakers in my new home office. So as stated in the description, they are CL2 certified for on-wall use, correct? Well WRONG. You are not. And I only noticed that when, after 2 months, a whole cable section spontaneously failed. Okay, how can a copper wire carrying an analog signal fail? I have no idea. I've worked in IT my entire adult life and I've been wired almost from the start. I suppose it's my fault for not looking closely to realize they weren't CL2 in the wall rating at all and weren't printed anywhere on the product, but AMAZON SELF claimed it was in the description so I did I even did it. t think to check. I took her word for it. I've run every test I can to make sure it's not a speaker and it's not. A fresh speaker cable (different brand) conducts the signal perfectly. At first the failed cable just started to dampen until it stopped working completely. Luckily I gave myself plenty of slack to work with so I cut the cable down considerably and tested it again and it ONLY carries a signal. It seems to work, but the audio is so distorted that it's unacceptable. I've trimmed it down as much as I can now, and while it's improved a bit, it sounds awful. Here's the problem, replacing the cable isn't exactly an easy option as I've since patched the wall and caulked the cables inside. You know because they should be IN THE WALL RATING? Well, now I have to punch holes in the wall again when replacing the cable. And now it's only a matter of time before others fail too. How exactly does a cable fail when it lies there and no one touches it? I assume it's warm in the wall/attic? I don't know, but if they really were closed, this shouldn't have happened. A spontaneous failure of the analogue cable in the wall is NOT PERMITTED. I never thought that Revain would actually cheat and lie about any of their products, but let that be a lesson. I'm completely confused now. Thank you Revane for making my life difficult because now I have to tear down walls again to fix this. EDIT: Review edited to fix some grammar and spelling mistakes. The cable is still terrible and I still can't explain how or why it failed.
