Not UL listed, not listed for wall or plenum installation.

The product appears to be of decent quality but nowhere on the reel or label on the cable does it say anything other than the film material. Buyer Warning. I wouldn't run this wire up a wall or an attic, much less hide it, because it has no face value. What if you had a house fire and found out that this wire was the cause? Could you cover the losses? All MADE IN USA cables must have some type of rating on the outer jacket that indicates temperature, voltage, and fire resistance.

ATTENTION, this cable is not ready for laying in a wall or in an attic

After installing the cable, the inspector who inspected the house noticed that this cable (Amazon Basic 14gauge cable) has no marking that had cables on it so he asked me to show him the cable packaging to make sure it was certified for use in the wall. The product packaging also does not contain any certification information for wall use. I contacted Revain and they assured me that they do not have a certificate for the cable which means the cable is not for wall use. So I had to buy anotherโ€ฆ

Rating (required for official acceptance) is missing!

This product has no markings to indicate a rating but is expected to be installed in walls. It will fail the electrical performance test. that in my case, since I add the addition with the help of professional contractors, controls are needed. It looks like a quality product and I'm sure I won't have any problems with this wire/cable. But now I really don't know if I'm ready to take the risk. It was clearly advertised as the CL2 rating, which is the approved rating for passing inspections. Soโ€ฆ

I can hear a difference at 35 feet

I bought cheaper 14 gauge wire but when I got it it turned out to be very low gauge copper. I returned it thinking 14 gauge Revain copper wire but decided on 12. I have a pair of vintage Polk Monitor 10A 6 ohm speakers. I hear a difference between this and the CCA cable. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but I didn't want the cable to be the weak link in my system. The extra $25 (40 vs. 15) was worth it in my opinion. The jacket itself is round and about the same size as RG6 coaxial cableโ€ฆ

Size Issue - Audio Cable

speakers (height). Although not strictly necessary I decided to use new conductors for 4 wide and 4 new tall speakers. While this Revain speaker cable lives up to the hype, I'm sure the quality of the conductor is more than adequate. The problem is the diameter. My house is circa 1925, plaster walls and ceilings and horsehair slats. At the time of purchasing this Revain cable, I also purchased a 100 foot spool of a similar cable from Cable Matters, which is significantly smaller overallโ€ฆ

Really good quality

My house has always had problems with interference from the nearby radio tower. I bought surge protectors with RF filters and a subwoofer isolation transformer from Blue Jeans to eliminate the noise in my subwoofer. I wired the main tower and center speakers using a 2-wire connection (because they support it and have an impedance of 6 ohms). I connected them with older 14 gauge speaker wire and Dynex wire that I bought at Best Buy. I also have 4 gimbals (which can be either dipoles or 8 ohmโ€ฆ

Pros
  • CLEAR SOUND: 99.9% oxygen-free copper construction helps deliver high-quality, undistorted signals to and from audio equipment.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Wow. Why is THAT bad?

Such a funny story - I bought these to wall install 5.1 surround sound speakers in my new home office. So as stated in the description, they are CL2 certified for on-wall use, correct? Well WRONG. You are not. And I only noticed that when, after 2 months, a whole cable section spontaneously failed. Okay, how can a copper wire carrying an analog signal fail? I have no idea. I've worked in IT my entire adult life and I've been wired almost from the start. I suppose it's my fault for not lookingโ€ฆ
