Review on πŸšͺ RV Designer G23 Gas Prop Door Support - 20-inch Length, 40 lb. Load Capacity - High-Performance Exterior Hardware by Jacob Diego

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for multi-year ranges of RV doors.

We have three 5 wheelers in our family from 2001 to 2004, release 2016. I'm the guy who fixes them all. Mom's door didn't stay open. I bought this via an open box at a warehouse for $8. Works perfectly. The gas charge is a little harsh on her, but I think that's because she's used to the old shock's depletion. As with most shocks, this will get easier. The door holds up well in strong Texas winds. The same shock absorber is located on all three doors of the camper. A small addition to the advice - when replacing this shock absorber. Remove the old shock absorber with a flat head screwdriver or butter knife. If you find that the screws holding the bracket to the door are loose, read on to find out how to fix this problem without damaging the door. Use a 1/4 or 5/16 socket wrench to remove the bracket. See how the holes bulge where the screws go. Close the door. Take a small hammer or similar tool and tap the surface lightly. Should be flat or slightly concave. Get a tube of high-tack liquid nails. Fill the holes with LN, apply a small bead to the surface where you will reattach the strut. Just reattach the bracket and tighten the screws a little more than tight. If the screw is loose, tighten it securely. Wipe off the adhesive and wait 24 hours for it to fully cure before applying the damper. Make sure the camera cylinder is attached to the van.
