Review on Colorful Fiskars 194160 Back to School Supplies: Blunt-tip Kids Scissors, 5 inch - Color May Vary! by Kristen Reid

Easy to use for children, suitable for adults

I bought these for my four year old grandson. This was the third scissors I tried on him and it helped him enjoy the scissors. Its ergonomic design gently guides his hand into position. The bottom loop of the handle of these scissors is quite large. This allows my grandson to use all of his fingers to control the scissors. This is of great importance for a young child who has not trained enough to develop the strength of the muscles needed to move the scissors and is still developing fine motor skills. I noticed that the muscles in his arms got stronger as he continued to practice, but he wouldn't practice if he had a pair of scissors with two identical loops on the handles. The identical loops of the handles gave him a real struggle and confused him how to hold the scissors properly; these problems disappeared with the Fiskars for children. Tinkering with scissors is now one of his favorite pastimes. Another benefit of the relatively large handles prompted me to purchase a second pair shortly after the first pair arrived. While not as adult-friendly as adult scissors, both my husband and I can use these Fiskars children's scissors so we can do scissor projects with our grandson. My own adult scissors are super, super sharp, and I don't want them around a preschooler, nor do I want to dull the paper with them, so I'm glad our adult-sized fingers fit in the handles of the scissors. These children's scissors. Note that while these Fiskar children's scissors can be ordered with blunt tips for added safety, the blades themselves are sharper than most children's scissors, although the blades are angled to improve safety. While I'm sure my grandson keeps his other children's scissors in a desk drawer, these Fiskars scissors live in a family project drawer and are only used with adult supervision. Because it's sharp enough to be effective, it's less tiring to use than most other children's scissors. A potential downside is that it also gives them the ability to cut through fabric, leather or hair if you're working on them, although we've never had that in the eight months these two pairs of baby Fiskars have been in our home . Learn and supervise your child until your child develops the maturity and wisdom to use these scissors responsibly. The description recommends ages four and up, but like I said, know your child. I've found my grandson will now ALWAYS come to me or my grandpa and ask for supervision instead of using the less efficient scissors he's allowed to hold. in your own desk drawer. It's probably time to clean up a bit and remove less efficient scissors from our lives. Our pair of Fiskars blunt scissors are used by children and adults more than any other pair of scissors in our household. Highly recommended but watch out for small children.
