Review on Haloview RD7: Wireless Long Range Backup Camera System Kit with 7'' 720P HD Digital Monitor & Built-in DVR for Truck/Trailer/Bus/RV/Pickups/Camper – Rear View Observation Reverse Camera by Marc Farrell

Great cameras, great image quality, but terrible hardware to install.

PRO: Very good picture. There's a slight lag in the refresh rate, but it's acceptable. I bought a rear and two side cameras. I really appreciate the view from three cameras, from the back and from two sides. Colors are superb during the day, color and black and white images are superb at night. Great product for the price, especially when compared to the competition. Is working! My RV is 35 feet long and the truck is 22 feet long. But the previous camera was delayed by a few seconds and constantly dropped the signal. Now it is a stable high quality signal. CONS: My problem is with the hardware that comes with the camera. They are equipped with self-adhesive clips to secure the transmitter cable. I decided to route the cable inside the rear fiberglass cover and under the RV along the I-frame. I cleaned the attachment site thoroughly, but the sticky clips started peeling off within 30 minutes. I had to look for another way to tie the cables. I found some strong magnets with D-rings attached which made this excursion a breeze. I literally finished laying the cable in 5 minutes. The second problem is monitor cables. The cables are very long, about 2 feet, neither of which I need for my setup or application. I'm thinking of an extra cable for a more permanent installation that I don't need or need. All I need is a cable about 8 inches long, enough to connect the monitor to the 12 volt outlet on top of the dash. I asked that there is no option for a shorter cable. I wrapped the extra cable with Velcro, but there are still issues as the cables sometimes touch the 12.5-inch touchscreen, resulting in unguided inputs. Very frustrating. This is insanely stupid. I believe that no additional cable is required for most users. There must be a separate version of the installation cable. The third issue is the mounting hardware for the monitor. Neither the standard bracket nor the additional bracket for the beanbag worked for me. My dashboard is leather and the stock suction cup didn't create a vacuum. The bag of beans slid across the dashboard. I ended up making a simple velcro to attach the monitor to the rearview mirror. I don't care if the mirror is covered as the rear view mirror is useless when towing a fifth wheel.
