Perfect for loose spices!
We use a lot of spices in cooking, so we buy in bulk. 18 ounce cans or 16 ounce pouches. Zippered bags don't keep spices as fresh, so I looked for jars that held other spices. I ordered several 16 ounce cans but they were too small. I realized that it was 16 fluid ounces and that 16 ounces of ground spice has a lot more volume! I recently bought 16-ounce bags of Turmeric and Cinnamon, and these jars keep them with room to spare. Ideal!
