I'm still getting used to the different thread textures and how they work with my machine. Holo shimmers are my favorites for machine sewing, and regular metallic ones are a bit slippery and tend not to last as long (thread breaks, stitches start to skip). All are beautiful to look at. Everyone will do great at hand sewing. I have not used/tried extensive use of metal coils without tape. Used one as a spool for a holosimmer - found thin cotton was better for the spool to carry on. Although the presence of a metal coating on both the top and the spool has prevented the thread from showing through when there are thickness changes as I sew over the various layers of fused fabric. Overall, I'm impressed with how well the thread holds through multiple layers of fabric and melds "garbage". This is the only brand I can recommend. Love love love having the whole collection in one tote bag! Feel able to take on any project that would benefit from a metallic thread.
