1000 Cranes Showa Grimm Japanese Origami Paper

This imported Japanese origami paper is 2.75 inches square and very thin (imagine it's almost thick tissue paper) to accommodate the tight, layered folds supply, which are needed for the production of cranes. Sold as a set of 1005 for traditional 1000 crane projects. While this will work, you probably won't get accurate beaks on your cranes - it tends to curl and billow there a lot when you're working with this size. Not a big disappointment. The colors are *not* pastel - that's what the leaves look like from the side of the box as the paper is white on one side, but the coloring is quite nice, I'll definitely be picking up this paper again. Tips on working with it to make 1000 cranes: Before you start, divide all the paper into stacks of 40 pieces in the correct color order. 2 double gauge single strands (so they look like 4 whatever you're embroidering) of 6 strand cotton embroidery thread worked really well to thread through. I used fancy glass beads on both ends to hold the faucets in place. Explore your placement options - I used a medium/large wrought iron base/homemade wind chime stand. Strands with 40 taps are approximately 20-22 inches long plus or minus the bead length.

Pros
  • Solid Construction
Cons
  • Without Machine
