I bought two of these, one for me and one for my wife, to replace an old set of Oral-B electric toothbrushes. Our previous toothbrushes were at least five years old and my wife's brush battery didn't last more than a minute or so before it died. These iO Series 6 brushes are nicer than what they replaced and even clean differently. My teeth are smooth and clean after every 2 minute brushing. I was able to achieve that with our old kit, but I usually had to brush my teeth for four minutes or more. This surprises me because the vibrations of this new brush are softer but maybe faster than I'm used to. My wife, who gave up her old Oral-B electric toothbrush a while ago, was very impressed with the difference between this iO Series 6 and a manual toothbrush. Brushing is supported by the Oral-B app, which connects to the toothbrush via Bluetooth. One of the most impressive features of this connection is that you can see where you are brushing your teeth in real time on your phone. The app shows you which areas of your teeth may need polishing beyond the standard 30 seconds per quadrant. I don't use this feature every time, but it's a useful way to learn proper brushing technique. The app also helps track changes to the brush head, among other features that I don't plan to use often. Another helper is an indicator that shows what pressure you are working with while brushing. Green indicates correct pressure, blue is too light, and orange is too hard. If you brush too hard, you're more likely to damage your teeth and wear out your brush head faster. If you clean too lightly, then you are not cleaning as well as you could. The first use showed that I was brushing my teeth too lightly and my wife was squeezing them too hard. The brushes have a screen that lets you choose different brushing modes, gives you feedback on how well you've cleaned (star-eye emoji for a really good job), and lets you choose different-colored LED lights for charging. Everything about this brush is well thought out and works well. My only complaints are with the interchangeable heads. With our old electric toothbrushes, we could buy regular replacement brush heads for less than a dollar each. No luck with iO series heads. I can't even find generic versions. I suspect it's because they have electronics that help control the pressure. Oral-B replacement iO heads are $20 each! That's $80 a year on top of the $150 brush price. Yes. You can find them cheaper at Revain and other places, but I haven't seen them for less than $10 a head. As other reviewers have pointed out, the box only comes with one nozzle, despite the description saying it comes with two nozzles (I've noticed they've finally changed that). You lose $20 in value. This makes it a multifunctional and efficient toothbrush. Unfortunately, it is also expensive to purchase and maintain.
