We purchased a lift kit for our 22ft queen bed on wheels. The instructions are not well structured. The instructions say we need to install the bracket to the top rail. Our top rail is 1 1/2" pine. We didn't think this unit would withstand the pressures over time that it would be subjected to in normal use. So we installed a 2 x 4 under the top rail and fastened it a bracket to it. At first we couldn't get the lid to close properly or stay closed. When we found that the lift arm had to be completely horizontal to close properly, we connected the top bracket to a 2 x 4 block .Everything worked great. The instructions should make this clear beforehand. We love the ease of opening and closing this compartment.Opens very gently.
