This is a nice pressure cooker. I have used it primarily to cook beans. I use the "multigrain" button and add extra time using the "taste" button. I have cooked primarily large beans (pinto, garbanzo, black, etc.). I do soak the beans overnight but I would do that anyway (reduces gas). One note: the lid design is different from the guide book that comes with the product. You can remove the little plastic nob in the center of the underside of the lid. Then the ring and inside metal plate (with the slots) comes out and you can wash the lid as needed.
