Welded Trailer Lift

I attached my lift with the modification when installing it on the aluminum tongue of a snowmobile trailer. Yes, there are clamp and bolt designs, but in my experience they start to bend. I welded a flat piece of standard steel (same height as the 3" aluminum tongue) and a round pipe mount to a 12" steel plate. I then attached a welded 12" flat tube stock to the tongue side with 3/8 bolts. I added wider than usual heavy duty washers on the nut side of the bolts to avoid damaging the aluminum alloy sidewall. Tongue. Basically I now have the same basic design as the direct weld, but with an aluminum tongue. The Curt jack works flawlessly and with great ease. This is my third Curt-Jack. I highly recommend this socket.
